Rally on Saturday, Nov. 9, at 3:00 pm
SE Corner of Liberty Memorial Park

Say No!!   to the neo-Nazi National Socialist Movement
Say No!!   to racism, anti-Semitism, anti-immigrant                                    nativism, and bigotry
Say Yes!!  to civil rights and human rights

Stand Up and Be Counted

On November 9 at 3:00 p.m. at Kansas City’s Liberty Memorial, a wide variety of civil rights and human rights organizations, city officials and concerned individuals will gather to say No! to the National Socialist Movement and Yes! to human rights.  The National Socialist Movement and their racist, anti-Semitic and bigoted friends are coming to downtown Kansas City, Missouri.  They will rally on 12th Street.  We will stand together at Liberty Memorial.  Organizers of the Liberty Memorial event are planning a non-violent, non-confrontational rally, a place where people of all types can gather.  We are aware that Nov. 9, 2013 is the 75th anniversary of Kristallnacht, and we will remember those who died at the hand of Hitler’s Nazis, those Jews who were burnt out of their synagogues, homes, and shops; and taken to concentration camps.

Among those organizations supporting this effort are the NAACP, the Jewish Community Relations Bureau, El Centro, Advocates for Immigrant Rights and Reconciliation, IREHR.org, SCLC, LULAC and the Greater KC Inter-faith Council.  Thank you to Amber Versola.

Ryan Ferguson Freed - highlights inadequacy of criminal justice system

Good news first! Ryan Ferguson was released yesterday after serving nearly 10 years of a 40-year sentence for murder. Ferguson was accused of the beating death of Kent Heitholt. This case, like many other wrongly incarceration cases, was flawed from the beginning. Said Ferguson,"To get arrested and to get charged for a crime you didn't commit is incredibly easy...but to get out of prison, it takes an army."

Execution of Joseph Franklin
The execution date for Franklin is November 20. Missourians for Alternatives to the Death Penalty will hold a vigil on Tuesday, November 19 from 8:30-9:00 pm at St. Xavier Church, Grand and Lindell Blvd. Voice your concerns about the use of the death penalty to Gov. Nixon at 573.751.3222.
