The CROP Walk is on October 7th.
It starts and ends at Lincoln University. The 3 mile route takes walkers downtown, past several participating churches. Last year we raised $10,000 for Church World Service to fight hunger. Twenty-five percent of what is raised comes back to the local community.
This year’s local portion will be targeted for the Buddy Pack program. Anyone who wants to walk is more than welcome to just show up at 3:30 at the soldiers’ memorial. Rev. David Henry at 1st Presbyterian Church has packets of information and envelopes for collections. Just go to the church to pick them up. They’re open 9 to 4 Monday through Thursday, and Friday and Saturday mornings.
More information about CROP Walk is here: http://www.churchworldservice.org/site/PageServer.
If you need some substainance for the walk, the Jefferson City NAACP Fredom Fund Dinner is set for September 29, 2012 at the Capital Plaza from 6PM - 8:30Pm and our keynote speaker is the Honorable Ike Skelton.
