Classic Cinema in the Capitol Rotunda, ch
eck.
Thanks to the efforts of the Missouri Legislative Black Caucus, its leader Representative Martin Rucker, and the Missouri Film Commission, Jefferson City residents are in for a real treat. The movies (listed below) were selected for their dominance in the cinema and to promote the many efforts of African-American.
We have missed "Guess Who's Coming to Dinner" but on each of the following nights at 6:30pm there will be an important presentation about a famous African-American Missourian and then at 7 the feature presentation:
"In the Heat of the Night" - February 10, 2010
"Rosewood" - February 17, 2010
"The Tuskegee Airmen" - February 24, 2010 SPECIAL NOTE - On this evening Tuskegee Airman George Watson Sr., will be on hand. Don't miss an opportunity to meet a living part of American history.
Many from Jefferson City and around the state are eager to acknowledge and promote the contributions of African-Americans. Black History Month is a great time to learn and share. Missouri Director of Agriculture, Dr. Jon Hagler has noted "With perseverance and determination, George Washington Carver's life is a testament to us all on how we can overcome obstacles to achieve greatness."
For the remainder of this month, lets learn more so we can do more for those with less.
See ya at the movies!
