From the ballot box to the classroom, the dedicated workers, organizers, and leaders who forged this great organization and maintain its status as a champion of social justice, fought long and hard to ensure that the voices of African Americans would be heard. For nearly one hundred years, it has been the talent and tenacity of NAACP members that has saved lives and changed many negative aspects of American society.

Good news first! Ryan Ferguson was released yesterday after serving nearly 10 years of a 40-year sentence for murder. Ferguson was accused of the beating death of Kent Heitholt. This case, like many other wrongly incarceration cases, was flawed from the beginning. Said Ferguson,"To get arrested and to get charged for a crime you didn't commit is incredibly easy...but to get out of prison, it takes an army."

Now that we have a ruling saying racial profiling is illegal, can we admit that whats happening in MO is not right and get on the path to getting better policing? Jefferson City is the only jurisdiction in the entire state that saw a decline and the Cole County Sheriff is near perfect in terms of stops being representative of the state's make up.
Thank you to all of our sponsors! Without your help, we could not function and appreciate your willingness to stand in the gap as we work for the protection of American Values for all.

Consumers have another tool when shopping for homeowners, auto insurance
Policies of Missouri’s top insurance companies are available online
Jefferson City, Mo. — Consumers shopping for insurance coverage for their homes or vehicles now have the opportunity to view insurance policies and mandatory endorsements from some of Missouri’s largest insurance companies before they buy. The Missouri Department of Insurance announced today that consumers can view free, sample homeowners and autoinsurance policies from major insurance companies on the department’s website.
“When shopping for insurance coverage, consumers can benefit from having additional resources about the products they are considering buying,” said John M. Huff, director of the Missouri Department of Insurance. “I commend the insurance companies participating with us in giving consumers another effective tool to use when searching for insurance coverage that best suits their needs.”
Missouri becomes the second state in the country to help enhance the overall transparency of the insurance industry by giving consumers the opportunity to view the policies and mandatory endorsements in a digital format from insurance companies selling homeowners and auto policies in the state. Nevada was the first state in the country to provide its residents with these informational resources.
The companies on their respective pages are listed in the order of their market share in Missouri, using 2012 data from the department’s Market Share Report. The policies and endorsements for each company can be found by clicking or touching the (+) icon on the left side of the page or by clicking or touching the company’s name. In an effort to create a one-stop shopping area for consumers looking for homeowners and auto policies, the department provided the websites and toll-free phone numbers of the companies listed, as well as additional consumer information about the companies complied by the department.
The homeowners insurance companies listed accounts for more than 80 percent of the market share selling homeowners insurance coverage in Missouri, while the auto insurance companies listed make up nearly 80 percent of the private passenger policies in the state. Additional companies may be added in the future.
Huff encourages consumers to read their policies and declarations pages carefully to make sure they have the right amount of insurance coverage. Insurance policies may contain exclusions, which are things that won’t be covered by the policy. A declaration page tells you the specific coverages you purchased and how much coverage you have on your home or vehicle. Consumers with questions about their coverage may want to contact their agent or insurance company.
Consumers can file a complaint or ask general insurance questions by calling the department’s Insurance Consumer Hotline at 800-726-7390 or by visiting insurance.mo.gov.

The North Carolina Delegation is at the National Conference.
Reverend Barber is likely on the way to jail soon if not now. He is in North Carolina today with the state's delegation of women leaders - its important to stand with your people.
Moral Mondays are consistent opposition to Jim Crow voter suppression themes to voters advances and other issues that were present in North Carolina.
Congressional districts were gerrymandered to dilute voting capacity of those seen as progressive. Now voters who voted for specific leadership are being ignored.
Same day voter registration has been stopped.
For months people in North Carolina have been arrested for trespassing in the state's capital. Teapartyers have not been arrested for throwing teabags on to the legislative floor. NAACPers stand in the hall and we get arrested.
Its not a new story that those who have been disenfranchised are treated different and often worse than those in power or at times the majority. But when that poor treatment is encoded in law rather than norms it gets a new name - Jim Crow and that what we have to fight now.
JOIN THE NAACP. WORK TO ENSURE EQUALITY AND JUSTICE FOR EVERYONE.
. . . and get ready to join Moral Mondays in North Carolina and at home.
